Colorectal Cancer Awareness Dress in Blue Day Photo Shoot

3/1/2024 from 12:15 PM - 12:20 PM

Event Location: Don Hoylman Family Atrium, WVU Cancer Institute (Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, Morgantown, WV)

The WVU Cancer Institute invites employees to participate in a "Dress in Blue Day" photo shoot on Friday, March 1, at 12:15 – 12:20 p.m. in the Don Hoylman Family Atrium in the WVU Cancer Institute (Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center). Participants are asked to wear blue clothing to support Colorectal cancer screening awareness.

The photo will be used to promote March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

In 2024, an estimated 153,020 people will be diagnosed with this highly preventable disease. They will join more than 1.4 million colorectal cancer patients and survivors living today.

In addition to the group photo, employees are asked to post their own Dress in Blue Day photos on social media using the hashtags #DressinBlueDay, #WVBlueforCRC, and #WVUCancerInstitute.

Reminder: Employees must follow other dress code guidelines per the Dress and Appearance Policy V.250S.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Toolkits Available

During March, the WVU Cancer Institute and Mountains of Hope, the state’s cancer coalition, invite you to engage with your community to raise colorectal cancer awareness and encourage on-time colorectal cancer screening. This campaign builds upon the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable’s Blue Star initiative which symbolizes the fight against colorectal cancer and promotes colorectal cancer awareness.

Join us in creating a campaign that focuses on increasing colorectal cancer knowledge, on-time colorectal cancer screening, and understanding of current colorectal cancer screening options throughout West Virginia and surrounding areas. This toolkit contains a variety of materials that may be helpful including a customizable screening guide card, sample press releases, and proclamations plus a social media kit.

These materials can be accessed at this link: https://bit.ly/screeningToolkits
