Absolute Air Hosts Fundraiser to Benefit Bonnie’s Bus Mobile Mammography Unit

Absolute Air LLC, WV Air Conditioning Service; held a successful coupon based fundraiser in October to raise and donate $2250 to benefit Bonnie’s Bus, part of the WVU Cancer Insitiute Mobile Screening Program

“We wanted to support a project that is making a tangible difference in our area,” says Brian Jackson the Managing Director of Absolute Air, “Bonnie’s Bus is a new and innovative way to bring care to people in rural areas that meet their needs. Being from Preston County I appreciate how valuable that can be.”

Bonnie’s Bus is a mobile mammography unit that provides breast cancer screening throughout West Virginia, especially in rural parts of the state with limited or where there is no access to screening mammography.

The Bus provides mammograms to individuals who fall within screening guidelines in a comfortable, convenient environment. Screening is provided for women, men, transgender, and gender-diverse people with private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or those who qualify for the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program. Uninsured patients living in West Virginia who are age 40 and older can receive a screening mammogram on the Bus through the generosity of grant funding and donations.

Since 2009, Bonnie’s Bus has:

  • Provided more than 30,000 screening mammograms
  • Detected more than 170 cases of breast cancer
  • Traveled more than 225,000 miles
  • Completed more than 1,000 screening days so far in 2023
  • Funded at least 2,300 mammograms through grant funding and donations

Absolute Air’s gift was made through the WVU Foundation, the nonprofit organization that receives and administers private donations on behalf of the University.
