As Round 1 voting in the Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge draws near, WVU Coach Bob Huggins is in 9th place in the competition to win $100,000 for the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment at the MBRCC.  Round 1 voting ends January 25 at 11:59 a.m. and Huggins needs to stay in the top 24 to move on to Round 2. 
Huggins is one of 48 top college basketball coaches in the nation participating in the Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge. The program, sponsored by luxury automobile manufacturer Infiniti, in partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the NCAA and ESPN, benefits the coaches’ favorite charity. 
Please register and vote for Coach Huggins every day at www.espn.com/infiniti and help the coach get the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment over the $1 million bar!

Participants sought for statewide survey on cancer family history in West Virginia

The University is conducting a research study of English-speaking women 40-50 years old. The online survey study explores thoughts and feelings about breast cancer. You can find the survey at this link.  This research study is led by Kim Kelly, PhD, in the WVU School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy.  Dr. Kelly is a member of the MBRCC Health Services and Intervention Research Program.

The MBRCC Employee Recognition Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for its annual MBRCC Employee Recognition Awards Program. If you would like to nominate and recognize excellence amongst our faculty, members, staff, employees and Cancer Service Line staff members who devote their professional lives to cancer prevention, care or research in any and all capacities, please download the nomination form on our MBRCC website or complete the hard copy form and send to Donna Tamasco, Room 1805, P.O. Box 9300, or by email to dtamasco@hsc.wvu.edu. Each section of the nomination form must be completed, including an explanation of how the nominee demonstrates "excellence" in the particular guiding principle.

Reminder of first WVCTSI pilot grant RFA deadline for 2015
Please note that the first deadline for WVCTSI's most recent open pilot grant competition is approaching on March 13, 2015. As a reminder, investigators who propose studies with humans will be required to complete human subjects protection training (CITI training) and submit the Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol prior to pilot application submission. Similar training and review are also required for those projects involving animals.
