MBRCC welcomes two new hematology oncology fellows

Welcome to Dheeraj Kodali and Zelia Budhan, who’ve joined the WVU Section of Hematology Oncology Fellowship Program.

 

Dr. Kodali earned his MBBS degree at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, India.  He earned a MPH degree in epidemiology at UAB, Birmingham, AL.  He also did a residency in combined internal medicine-psychiatry at WVU-Charleston/CAMC.

 
 

Dr. Budhan earned her MBBS degree at the University of the West Indies.  She previously worked in internal medicine in Jamaica and the Bahamas and later completed a residency in internal medicine, also at CAMC in Charleston where she was chief resident her final year.

MBRCC welcomes Brenda Overstreet

 

Brenda Overstreet, APRN, is an acute care nurse practitioner, whose primary focus is GI cancers.  She works with Dr. Kurian and Dr. Auber.  Overstreet received an MSN degree from the University of Kentucky and a BSN degree from Eastern Kentucky University.


Congratulations to Laura Gibson, PhD

Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean for WVU Health Sciences has named Laura Gibson, PhD, associate dean for research.  This is in addition to her other leadership roles.  Gibson is one of three appointments made by Dr. Marsh to new leadership roles in the School of Medicine.

MBRCC spotlights individual winners of the 2014 Awards of Excellence

MBRCC E-news continues to shine the spotlight on each faculty and employee of the Cancer Center and the WVU Medicine Cancer Service Line who won an Award of Excellence in a particular category during the 2014 Awards of Excellence reception at the Cancer Center.  The awardees were nominated by their peers for distinct recognition of exceptional performance in one of several categories including:

  • Quality
  • Innovation
  • Teamwork
  • Accountability
  • Service

Those categories represent the guiding principles of the MBRCC.

The Cancer Center began the MBRCC Member and Employee Recognition Awards Program to recognize faculty, physicians, nurses, healthcare staff and other staff and professionals of the Cancer Center and the WVU Healthcare Cancer Service Line in 2012.  

The intent of the program is for colleagues to nominate and recognize excellence amongst WVU faculty and employees, who devote their professional lives to cancer care or cancer research in any and all capacities and roles.


ACS seeks volunteers to transport cancer patients to treatment

The American Cancer Society (ACS) Road to Recovery Program is in need of volunteers in the Morgantown and surrounding areas to help transport cancer patients to treatment.  The ACS provides training and the time commitment is flexible based on the volunteer’s availability.  If interested please call 304-523-1939 to talk to mission delivery specialist Terri Francis.
