Panera Bread Pink ribbon bagel sale on Oct 3 to benefit Susan G. Komen WV


All Panera Bread restaurants in West Virginia, including the two in Morgantown, will be selling Pink Ribbon bagels on Monday, October 3 and will donate 100% of these bagel sales to Susan G. Komen West Virginia.  Funding from Komen supports the WVU Cancer Institute Bonnie Wells Wilson Mobile Mammography Program.  Please help this cause by purchasing your pink ribbon bagels on Monday.

WVU College of Business & Economics spotlights alum with Cancer Institute ties

The WVU College of Business & Economics is shining the spotlight on Kevin Tephabock, the senior director of primary care systems for the American Cancer Society (ACS) and a 1983 marketing graduate of the College .  In his role with the ACS, Tephabock has built a solid relationship between his organization and the WVU Cancer Institute, and the two entities are strong partners in the fight against cancer.  Most recently, the ACS awarded the Institute a $210,000 research grant .

Cancer Institute and Winabeth Smith  honored at Institute’s Tea Time

The American Cancer Society (ACS) honored the Cancer Institute with the organization’s Crystal Award for being the presenting sponsor of the Monongalia Country ACS Relay For Life during the WVU Cancer Institute Tea Time this past Thursday.    The Cancer Institute raised more than $22,000 during the Relay and WVU Medicine had 11 teams consisting of 131 members who participated in the event.

Congratulations to Winabeth Smith, grants manager for the Cancer Institute.  Smith was presented the Professional Staff of the Year Award from the School of Medicine Dean’s Awards for Excellence.  The Professional Staff of the Year Award is given to a staff member who demonstrates excellence in their work, contributes to a positive work environment, and is a strong team contributor.  Smith also received a WVU Cancer Institute Award of Excellence earlier this year.
