Free Community COVID-19 Testing Available This Month

Free community COVID-19 testing conducted by Monongalia County Health Department will be held through December at the WVU Rec Center.


WVU Medicine Children's Community Toy Drive

The holidays are the most popular time for the community to donate items for patients at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital. These donations are much needed and appreciated and help provide joy year-round.

This year, WVU Medicine Children’s is holding a drop-off Community Toy Drive to make the donation process easier, minimize visitors at the hospital, and allow time to sort and quarantine items that will be given to patients and their siblings. Toys will be collected on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m - 6 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m - 6 p.m. at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.


Tobacco Cessation: Free Virtual Support Group

Patients who smoke can be referred to a free online tobacco cessation program. The six-week support group is open to smokers who are considering quitting, want to cut back, or want to quit altogether. They will be provided with the tools and support to reach their goals. Registration can be completed online or by calling 304-293-2370.


Register Now For A Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program

West Virginia University School of Dentistry, in cooperation with the Health Sciences Center Office of Interprofessional Education, is one of twenty-three Tobacco Treatment Training Programs certified nationally and internationally by the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP).

During the three-day course, offered May 19-21 via Zoom, professionals in the fields of medicine, dentistry, social work, pharmacy, nursing and public health will present evidence-based strategies to assist patients and clients interested in tobacco cessation.

WVU Cancer Institute Welcomes New Faces


Mary Garland Kledzik, MD - Surgical Oncology

Dr. Garland Kledzik joined the WVU Cancer Institute from John Wayne Cancer Institute at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California, where she completed a fellowship in surgical oncology. She completed her medical degree at Florida International University and general surgery residency at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
