Frisch Named To Review Committee For DoD Ovarian Cancer Research Program

Steven M. Frisch, Ph.D., Professor of Biochemistry at WVU School of Medicine, has been invited to be a member of the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program Review Committee, for an annual term, beginning September 01, 2020.
Membership on a review section represents a major commitment of professional time and energy as well as a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort. These functions are of great value to medical and allied research in this country.

Although the world has changed in 2020, Bonnie’s Bus keeps rolling, and the need for its services continues to grow. This year, out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to host the Pink Party virtually. Fellow supporters and friends of the WVU Cancer Institute can safely support Bonnie’s Bus and the women of West Virginia remotely, all while enjoying a fully interactive experience including special presentations, contests and auction.

NIH Notices
We are pleased to announce the release of NCI's Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Plan and Budget Proposal.
Each year, developing this plan provides us with a special opportunity to reflect on progress in cancer research and consider how best to direct our resources in the years ahead, on behalf of the American public.
This plan focuses on our enduring top priority — accelerating cancer research — and features four special scientific topics: cancer drug resistance, molecular diagnostics for cancer treatment, obesity and cancer, and cancer survivorship.
Applications for K Grant Writing Groups open September 1
WVCTSI will begin accepting applications for its Grant Writing Groups (K-Clubs) on September 1. These groups are designed for early career faculty and postdocs conducting clinical and/or translational research who are interested in applying for an NIH Mentored Career Development Award (“K” Award) for the February 2021 NIH submission deadline.
Interested participants can visit the program webpage for additional information and application instructions. Please direct any questions to Joan Lakoski, Ph.D., WVCTSI director of proposal development, at joan.lakoski@hsc.wvu.edu. Applications must be submitted via email to Joan Lakoski by 5 p.m. EST on October 2.
Small Grant RFA application deadline extended to September 8
The WVCTSI Pilot Grant Program will extend the Small Grant RFA deadline by 24 hours. Applications are now due Tuesday, September 8 by 5 p.m. additional information and complete application instructions can be found on the WVCTSI funding page.
