National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Monica Bertagnolli visited West Virginia University this week to discuss advances and initiatives in biomedical research. She highlighted the importance of inclusivity in research and making it accessible in our rural communities, which is at the heart of WVCTSI's mission. Senator Shelley Moore Capito was also part of the robust discussions about health in the Mountain State. For more on the visit, check out this coverage from WBOY.

During the visit to Morgantown on Wednesday, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and NIH Director Dr. Monica Bertagnolli toured WVU’s Cancer Institute and WVU Medicine’s Lung Cancer Mobile Screening Unit, also known as LUCAS.

The mobile unit was located in the parking lot of the WVU Health Sciences Center and was open for the public to come tour. LUCAS is the only fully mobile unit of its kind in the nation and offers a full-sized CT Scan. See the coverage from WBOY.
