Lung Cancer Conference Highlights National Speakers

Special Guests to the Biennial Lung Cancer Conference include four nationally known speakers from the National Lung Cancer Roundtable and the agenda reflects the issues identified by the roundtable and recent research as highly important - stigma, patient-centered care, support services, assessment of needs, health equity, and communication. The agenda reflects these topics and covers the lung cancer continuum from early detection through survivorship. We would like to fill the room with WVU Medicine clinicians, faculty, and staff, including those from Morgantown and the regional sites. Registration is free and continuing education credits are available.

WVU Tobacco Treatment Training Program Expanding Reach To Include Secondary School Professionals

More than 80 health professionals from all over the state completed West Virginia University  School of Dentistry’s Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP) in May. Participation in the three-day, continuing education course indicated providers acknowledge a patient benefits most when the people who care for them collaborate and offer consistent terminology, resources and steps to cessation.

The Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP) fills a need in the Mountain State, which has one of the highest tobacco use rates in the nation. The goal is to train healthcare providers to treat tobacco use and dependence with evidence-based tobacco cessation strategies that providers take back to their communities
